(Anglo-Saxon, seolfor siolfur; Ag is L. argentum) Known to the ancients and mentioned in Genesis. Occurs in ores including argentite, horn silver, lead, lead-zinc, copper and gold found in Mexico, Peru, and the US. Silver iodide, AgI, is used in causing clouds to produce rain. Somewhat rare and expensive, although not as expensive as gold.
